Lineage & Achievements of Rebel and Barra – Australian Cattle Dogs with Champion Bloodlines

When you meet Rebel and Barra for the first time, you immediately sense their unique presence – a blend of energy, balance, and connection that makes them exceptional companions both in daily life and on the farm.

Kept initially as family and farm dogs, it soon became clear that these two Australian Cattle Dogs possessed something truly special. Their physical condition, temperament, and lineage reveal a potential far beyond the ordinary.

The decision to breed them was not taken lightly, but after careful consideration—and, above all, with deep respect for the responsibility it entails. For us, it’s not just about producing "offspring" but about carefully preserving and passing on key traits.

Traits that not only define the uniqueness of this dog breed but also embody the qualities we value in our daily lives: alertness, endurance, social intelligence, and a deep capacity for bonding. This doesn’t begin with Rebel and Barra – it’s rooted in their parents.

Origins & Bloodlines – The Parents of Rebel and Barra

Rebel’s Parents: Reel & Stare and Whisper

Rebel’s heritage unites two exceptional lines. Her father, Reel, comes from a proven working line, known for its near-inexhaustible endurance and remarkable responsiveness. Dogs like Reel work not just with their bodies but their minds – they observe, react in a flash, and complete tasks precisely. These traits have been passed down to Rebel. Her clarity of behavior and attentive nature toward people and animals are no coincidence but the result of targeted breeding over generations.

Rebel’s mother, Stare and Whisper, bears a name that perfectly reflects her nature. This Australian Champion (CH) comes from a particularly sensitive line, where intelligence, emotional depth, social skills, and an instinctive understanding of her surroundings take center stage.

Her offspring are known for their balanced temperament and high level of cooperation – qualities that Rebel consistently displays through her gentle, people-oriented demeanor. Stare and Whisper’s champion title reflects not only her external qualities but also her outstanding character.

Barra’s Parents: Boss & Amber Moonshine

Barra owes his striking appearance and spirited personality to a distinguished lineage. His father, Boss, is physically powerful, mentally resilient, and a true champion in the show and exhibition world. Even at a young age, he earned several titles such as “Best in Show” and “R/Up BEST IN SHOW” – a testament to his outstanding appearance and poise, especially in show settings.

Judges at various exhibitions emphasized how rare it had become to see a typical Australian Cattle Dog and expressed how delightful it was to evaluate a purebred breed representative. Boss embodies the breed standard in its purest form.

His mother, Amber Moonshine, adds charm and depth to this lineage. With her extraordinary appearance paired with a sensitive intuition for people and animals, she brings an emotional intelligence to the breeding program that is not always a given in working dogs. Amber is what one would call a “quiet leader,” and this blend of strength and softness is also clearly present in Barra.

Amber is an International Champion (INT CH), Croatian Champion (CR CH), Montenegrin Champion (MNE CH), Slovenian Champion (SLO CH), and Australian Champion (AU CH).

Titles and Achievements

Rebel and Barra's pedigrees read like excerpts from a champion catalogue. Their lineage stands for excellence, charisma, and high-level performance.

Barra, affectionately known as “Bazza,” holds the Australian Champion (CH.) title. But that’s just the beginning. His father, Boss, is a Supreme Champion (SUP. CH.) and was Australia’s No. 1 Australian Cattle Dog – a title that placed him at the top of all registered members of his breed across the country. Boss impressed not only with his physical appearance and commanding presence in the ring but also as a multiple winner of “Best in Show 2nd (BIS 2nd)” – a placement that demonstrates he held his own not just within his breed, but among all represented dog breeds.

Barra’s mother, Amber Moonshine, also held the Champion (CH.) title and captivated judges with her distinctive appearance and charisma. Her excellent looks, elegant movement, and refined temperament were clearly passed down to her son.
Barra’s breeding partner, Rebel, comes from a highly decorated line. Her mother, Stare and Whisper, also holds the Champion (CH.) title and is among the most distinguished females of her generation. She, too, was awarded multiple “BIS 2nd” titles – an accolade that highlights her exceptional quality and presence.

This pairing unites not only two well-socialized and strong-character dogs but also two bloodlines with numerous accolades. Therefore, Rebel and Barra's offspring have the potential for a stable temperament and good health and carry the genes of true champions in both performance and appearance.

Barra (Bazza) earned his champion title in impressive fashion. Even as a young dog, he won “Runner-up Best Exhibit in Show,” taking second place among all breeds at a major exhibition, straight from the Junior Class. He also gathered the remaining points for the title in style: even in the Puppy and Junior classes, he was multiple times awarded “Best Exhibit in Group,” marking him as the best dog in his group.

These achievements reflect his exceptional quality and his confident demeanor, well-balanced anatomy, and smooth movement. Bazza combines type, temperament, and presence.

Breeding Potential & Pairing

Although Rebel and Barra initially found their place as reliable farm and family dogs, their exceptional potential for purposeful and responsible breeding became increasingly evident over time. Both dogs impress not only with their outward appearance but also with a harmonious temperament that holds up just as well in everyday life as in focused work or social interaction with people and animals.

Their physical condition is excellent—muscular and vital, with clear coat markings and healthy pigmentation. They show the classic traits of the Australian Cattle Dog without exaggeration or flaws—simply honest, authentic, and functional. But the most important traits lie deeper. Rebel and Barra are mentally stable, quick to respond, yet always easy to guide and friendly. They are dogs with character—resilient, loyal, and sensitive at once.

What Matters to Us

As mentioned, the decision to initiate the first pairing was not made lightly. It was based on extensive consideration and a careful review of the pedigrees. But above all, the harmonious complement of the two animals sparked the desire to breed.

In size, color, coat texture, and temperament, Rebel and Barra form a balanced pair.
While Barra impresses with his dynamic energy and clear presence, Rebel brings calm, gentleness, and social balance. Together, they form a unit where opposites don’t cancel each other out – they enhance each other.

The mating is carefully prepared and carried out under optimal conditions. Based on our past experiences, a litter typically consists of eight healthy puppies – the average litter size. We expect future litters also to produce around eight puppies, combining the best qualities of both lines, both visually and in character.

Our goal is to breed dogs that embody a clearly recognizable breed standard and are suited for everyday life—as working dogs, farm helpers, or loving family companions.

The Start of an Adventure

This first pairing has not only marked the beginning of a new breeding line for us but also the start of a personal adventure. Every step has been and will continue to be taken with care, dedication, and respect for the animal.

From the beginning, we’ve placed great importance on the puppies' health, early socialization with people, children, and other animals, and fostering a stable, resilient temperament.

All puppies have been and will continue to be provided with original papers, complete vaccination and microchip documentation, and – upon request – individualized rearing or care advice.
